I am a graduate of UMIST where I studied Management Sciences, specialising in Marketing and Organisation Psychology.

I joined the Mars “Management through Sales” graduate programme, rising through the ranks to manage the key strategic relationships with major customers (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, etc.) and distributors, as well as managing several different sales forces within the Mars group, including the flag-ship Pedigree Petfoods sales force.

I was Sales and International-Marketing Director of AXA PPP Healthcare, a £600m company, during the period when it de-mutualised and was acquired initially by GRE and then by AXA. In this post I managed B2B

relationships with over 30% of the FTSE 100 as well as over 40,000 other clients through direct sales, telesales and intermediaries. In a mature market, the business was grown by over 30%, and profitability even faster.

As Sales Director of Barclays Financial Planning, a £2bn business, I led 5 sales forces comprising 1200 staff serving the needs of personal, private and corporate clients.  In two years growth of over 50% was delivered, and the business returned to profitability.

I have now worked in over 50 different industries/markets and internationally, which means that I am uniquely placed to help clients draw on best practice to drive a step change in their business and people performance.

I have also worked with almost 200 Partners or Managing Partners in Professional Services firms so have an acute awareness of the challenge faced of Developing Business with Clients of Professional Firms.

I live in Stamford, Lincolnshire with Bev, my wife of 30 years. We have three sons Michael, James and David.  In my pare time I enjoy family, charitable/voluntary work, classical and jazz music, playing golf, and I am a keen amateur photographer.
